Singapore Chamber of Maritime Arbitration (“SCMA”) will be having its conference titled “The Race to Relevance” on 4 October 2019 in conjunction with its tenth anniversary.

At SCMA 10th Anniversary Conference, there will be two keynote speeches and several panel discussions on the global maritime industry by experienced industry professionals, thought leaders and legal practitioners.
The Guest-of-Honour, The Honourable the Chief Justice Sundaresh Menon, will be making an opening address on “Charting the Singapore Maritime Adventure – Are we there yet?”. The industry and legal keynote speeches will be delivered by Ms Tan Beng Tee, Assistant Chief Executive of Maritime Port Authority of Singapore and Mr Edwin Tong SC, Senior Minister of State for Ministry of Law & Ministry of Health, respectively. Among the topics that will be discussed include, Maritime Singapore: Past Economics to Future Economy, Global Economic Issues: Tumultuous Times or Opportunities for Singapore IMC?, “Good Faith Negotiation” in Multi-Tiered Arbitration Clauses, The Right Rights: Does Maritime Singapore Really Need the Right of Appeal?, Maritime Arbitration Institutions: The Confluence of Competition, Culture, and Costs and Staying Relevant in a Polarised World: Meeting Future Needs in Maritime and International Trade.
