Market Abuse

Acted for an individual charged with insider trading under the Securities and Future Act, in a matter related to the prosecution of former executives of the Catalist-listed Oriental Group Limited for inter alia cheating, false trading and market rigging transactions, as well as employing manipulative and deceptive devices in connection with transactions of capital markets products.

Money Laundering

Acted for one of ten accused persons with Chinese origin, who had been arrested in connection with alleged money-laundering involving up to S$2.8 billion in assets. Approximately S$100 million of Zhang Ruijin’s assets had been seized.

Extradition

As lead counsel, leading a multi-jurisdictional disputes team comprising United States, Thailand and Singapore counsel in connection with a Chinese national undergoing extradition proceedings in Singapore and indicted by the US Department of Justice for alleged wire fraud offences giving rise to alleged gains of more than US$200 million.

Cheating and Criminal Breach of Trust

Acted for Thai national names in the Tradenation International luxury goods scam involving disputed assets in excess of S$30 million.

Corruption

Acted for two former employees investigated for receipt of alleged kickbacks in the sum of approximately S$3 million from a China state-owned enterprise.
