In the ninth ST Legal Series, it explores the topic on international arbitration with the aim to inform and enhance awareness. The series featured the industry players in the international arbitration scene in Singapore. There were also articles on arbitration-related topics including “Arbitration cases continue to grow amid pandemic”, “S’pore counsel leads team in SIAC case over $629m Philippine project”, “MinLaw to beef up S’pore as arbitration hub to court users”, “Maxell Chambers turns to virtual hearings amid Covid-19”, and “Global reach of local arbitration views”.
2. Syazana was quoted in the Arbitration Law Series
Syazana Yahya was approached by the Straits Times to comment about recent arbitration trends in the wake of Covid-19 and spoke about the rise in the number of expedited arbitration cases that Eugene Thuraisingam LLP has been seeing recently.
We have seen a rise in the number of expedited arbitrations. These would typically involve claimants with smaller claims and, in the wake of Covid-19, the looming threat of insolvency has increased the impetus for claimants to seek an arbitration award quickly, where this is an option.
