International arbitration (2026): As lead counsel, obtained a case management stay of a claim for a sum of USD 10 million brought to enforce alleged liabilities in a parent-company guarantee arising from a subsidiary’s alleged breaches of a hydrocarbon equipment supply contract. Successfully persuaded the court that the parent company guarantee, properly construed, was not an on-demand guarantee and that therefore the court litigation must await the outcome of a concurrent arbitration between the subsidiary and the claimant dealing with the subsidiary’s alleged breaches of the supply agreement.
Confidential client (2026): As lead counsel, successfully persuading a High Court Judge on the second day of trial to strike out a claimant’s claim for alleged fraudulent misrepresentations. Our basis for striking out was that the Defendant had furnished open offers for amicable resolution that in substance amounted to giving the Defendant all potential reliefs in the action, and this therefore no longer justifies an 8-day trial. This was so, even if the Claimant was dissatisfied that there would be no specific findings on his claims of alleged fraud by the trial Judge.
International arbitration: As lead counsel, secured an award in the amount of USD 3 million on behalf of a renewable energies company after an expedited arbitration involving the breach of share purchase and loan agreements.
Djony Gunawan v Christina Lesmana [2024] SGHC(A) 14, UFN v UFM [2019] SGCA 54 and UFM v UFN [2017] SGHCF 22: As lead counsel, successfully secured a ruling that our Indonesian client is beneficial joint owner of a freehold property and an order for partition and sale of the property.
Adcrop Pte Ltd v Gokul Vegetarian Restaurant and Café Pte Ltd [2023] SGHC 152: On behalf of a shareholder, as lead counsel successfully resisting the attempted winding up of company on the novel basis that the winding up application was part of a conspiracy to wrest control of an iconic Indian vegetarian business.
