Zhi Yong graduated with an LLB (Hons) degree from Queen Mary University of London in 2014. He also has a Bachelor’s degree in Arts (Psychology).
After graduation, Zhi Yong went on to undertake postgraduate legal studies in Washington D.C. and Geneva in the field of international relations, health law, trade, intellectual property and human rights. In 2015, he interned at the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights for six months before returning to Singapore.
Zhi Yong was admitted to the Singapore Bar in August 2018, and his main area of practice has been in civil and commercial litigation. With a strong interest in criminal justice, he hopes to develop a deeper expertise in this area and continues to assist his colleagues on the same. No matter the offence one is charged with, i.e. whether it is a drug-related or white-collar matter, he believes that every person deserves a robust defence and a fair hearing.
Beyond work, Zhi Yong is fascinated by sociology and psychology, a recreational badminton player, and a long-suffering Arsenal fan.
