Eugene Thuraisingam LLP is pleased to announce Suang Wijaya’s appointment as the firm’s Managing Partner with effect from 30 January 2024.
An Indonesian by origin and a Raffles Institution alumnus, Suang graduated with First Class Honours from the National University of Singapore. Suang trained with the firm in 2015 and is now in his ninth year of practice.
Suang’s practice focuses on high-value contentious matters including shareholder and corporate disputes, fraud and asset recovery, property disputes and employment matters. Being proficient in Mandarin and Bahasa Indonesia, Suang is regularly instructed on cross-border disputes with a Chinese or Indonesian connection. In 2023, Suang clinched the recognition of “Singapore lawyer of the year – client choice awards” by Asialaw.
Suang succeeds our founding Partner Eugene Thuraisingam, who has been Managing Partner since the firm’s inception in April 2012. Eugene will continue to play key role in growing the firm’s regional business development efforts. Eugene will also continue to mentor the firm’s lawyers in developing their respective practices.
Commenting on Suang’s appointment, Eugene said: “Leadership transition is key to the firm’s continued growth. Having worked with Suang for over nine years, I am confident that Suang will succeed in his new role.”
Suang added: “I am honoured to be appointed to this role and consider this to be a solemn responsibility. My focus will be to continue expanding the firm’s capabilities in dispute resolution and growing the firm’s reputation in the region. I look forward to working with the team to bring Eugene Thuraisingam LLP to its next stage of development!”
