Asian Legal Business (“ALB”) held its inaugural virtual summit from 14 – 16 October 2020, bringing together more than 500 leading senior-level corporate counsel, business leaders and private practice lawyers from all across the region.
Across the three-day summit, there were more than 40 speakers including Glenn Seah (Head Legal, Compliance and Corporate Secretariat, Singapore Exchange Limited), Hazel Tang (Counsel, International Chamber of Commerce), Lisa Mather (VP, Chief International Counsel, PayPal).

Our Ms Syazana was invited to moderate the panel session on “Fine-Tuning Your Dispute Tactics: Strategies That Work”, during which the panellists discussed effective commercially sensible dispute resolution tactics especially in the wake of Covid-19. The distinguished panel comprised of:
a. John K. Arthur (Barrister and Member of the Victorian Bar of 30 years),
b. Stephen Trevis (Head of Markets Legal Asia Pacific and South East Asia, Barclays Bank PLC),
c. Smrity Sudan (Group Legal Head, UD Trading Group),
d. Corey Whiting (Legal Counsel, Head of Litigation, Kuok Singapore Limited Group) and
e. Jonathan Tay (Legal Counsel, Hitachi).
Ms Syazana invited the panellists to share their perspectives on dispute resolution trends in Asia, how to combine litigation / arbitration with other dispute resolution mechanisms to achieve an effective outcome, factors that should be considered before choosing the appropriate dispute resolution method and forum and how General Counsels can effectively work with external counsels to resolve disputes.
The audience came out of the panel session with useful and practical tips on how to effectively deal with commercial disputes.
