1. Introduction

As an arbitration law firm in Singapore, arbitration is one of the core practice areas of the firm.

Syazana Yahya attended an arbitration conference, “Latest Arbitration Trends & The Role of Women in Arbitration” jointly organised by the Society of Construction Law (“SCL”) Malaysia, and the Malaysian Institute of Arbitrators (“MIArb”) in collaboration with the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (“SIAC”) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

2. Speakers at the Conference

The distinguished speakers, including YA Dato’ Mary Lim (Court of Appeal Judge), Janice Tay (President of SCL), Sharon Chong (President of MIArb), and Delphine Ho (Registrar of SIAC), an all-female Panel, discussed the latest trends in arbitration including recent proposals to introduce a right of appeal in arbitration, a right of a non-party to disrupt arbitration proceedings and third party funding in international arbitration. The Panel also shared their personal diversity-related challenges navigating their careers in the industry.
