After a 3 year break (the last CJ’s Cup being in 2019), The CJ’s Cup 2023 returned this year involving 20 teams including law firms, the Singapore Academy of Law (SAL), the three law schools, and players from Jamiyah Halfway House.
Eugene Thuraisingam LLP is proud to be an event sponsor for this year’s edition of the CJ’s Cup, which is an annual futsal tournament jointly organised by SAL and the Yellow Ribbon Fund (YRF). The funds raised go towards supporting the YRF-SAL Skills Training Assistance to Restart (STAR) Bursary. Since 2013, the bursary has given 40 financially disadvantaged ex-offenders an opportunity to further their education. They graduate not just with a certificate or better job opportunities but more importantly, a commitment to turning their lives around.
Our team was grouped together with teams from WongPartnership LLP, Oon & Bazul, SAL and Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS). Our team beat Oon & Bazul (1-0) and held WongPartnership LLP (0-0), SAL (0-0) and SUSS (1-1) to draws, thereby emerging the only undefeated team in the tournament and finishing 2nd in the group.
We were also delighted to field diversity in our team, which included not just our current lawyers and trainees, but also former trainees and interns, as well as a current intern.
