Yongxin read law at the National University of Singapore where he graduated with Second Class Honours (Upper) in 2020. He is also one of the few law graduates in Singapore to have minored in Forensic Science.
In 2017, Yongxin headed The Innocence Project (Singapore) (now known as The Recourse Initiative) which investigated claims of innocence from convicted persons who have exhausted all avenues of appeal. He and his team attended the Taiwan Innocence Project Conference in 2018 where he presented their work to the project’s international counterparts.
Yongxin is driven by his firm belief in due process and second chances for those shunned by society. After graduating, he joined Eugene Thuraisingam LLP because of its commitment to access to justice and its willingness to argue novel points of law. As a practice trainee, Yongxin was exposed to various areas of dispute work in both civil and criminal proceedings.
Outside of law, his interest lies in diving and music. He is a PADI Certified Divemaster, having chosen to further his skill after his time serving in the Naval Diving Unit.
